What is Selank?
Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide with the sequence Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro. Its first four residues reproduce tuftsin, a naturally occurring tetrapeptide derived from the heavy chain of immunoglobulin G; the added Pro-Gly-Pro tail was introduced to make the molecule more resistant to peptidase breakdown. The compound originated at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Selank is used in neuroscience and immunology research. Published studies have examined its influence on GABAergic signaling and neuropeptide-related gene expression in rodent models, its interaction with enkephalin-degrading enzymes, and cytokine expression in immune cells. Reconstitution & storage for research
Adding 2 mL of diluent to the 10 mg vial gives 5 mg/mL; adding 1 mL gives 10 mg/mL. Selank is a short, hydrophilic sequence and goes into solution easily. At 5 mg/mL, a 100 µL aliquot contains 500 µg and a 10 µL aliquot contains 50 µg. To check a different volume, enter the vial size into the reconstitution calculator.
A sterile diluent such as bacteriostatic water is the usual choice for multi-use research vials. Add diluent gradually against the glass, allow the cake to dissolve on its own for a minute or two, and finish with a slow swirl. Shaking is unnecessary and can introduce foam.
Storage conditions

- Protection: shield the vial from light, humidity and temperature swings; store it upright in its box.
